Abstract:

Mineralocorticoid receptors (MR) mediate the action of aldosterone in kidney on sodium resorption. In the brain, MR mediate the action of glucocorticoids secreted by the adrenal glands in response of stress. Mutations in the MR-gene appear to be causal for pseudohypoaldosteronism in some specific kindreds. SNPs with more subtle effects on sodium resorption or the response to stress have been identified
